Tyre cutting machine enables recycling of old tyres into agricultural products
These are a few of things entrepreneur Mick Crockford wants to recycle old tyres into.
Mr Crockford has been developing a tyre cutting machine with which he wants to create agricultural products from recycled tyres.
By cutting the walls out of tyres Mr Crockford says he can make feed bins, among other products.
“If you cut one wall out they can be used for lick bins, bigger tyres can be used for troughs,” he said.
“The idea [is to be] able to cut tyres strategically and being innovate to produce other ideas.”
Mr Crockford said there are too many tyres dumped around rural communities without being recycled.
“Instead of the whole tyres being dumped, they can be cut strategically and hopefully recycled and at the very worst, put to landfill in a safe environmental way,” he said.
“A whole tyre [when buried] has an air void, it moves, it has oxygen there which promotes underground fires.
“If they’re on the surface, they’re more of an issue, they breed mosquitoes.”
